What is a Video Treatment and What is its Purpose?

A treatment is a quick summary or draft of your video production. This is where you should include the script, storyboard, and the idea behind the video.

Every great filmmaker starts with an idea. Maybe it's about their life or something that happened to them. They then formulate it into a screenplay which they use to film their movie or TV series. You can then upload their movie to YouTube, Vimeo, or whichever platform you want to share it on.

The treatment is the same thing for videographers and music videos; it's like a summary of your video production which includes what you will be filming and why you are making this film.

Treatments are outlines that give the director an idea of what your film or video is about, who the story revolves around, and what emotions you want to invoke.

A treatment usually contains these major elements:

1. Title page

2. Cast list—a list of all actors in the film with their names, descriptions, and their roles

3. Narrative description—describes the narrative arc of the film or video in terms of events and actions

4. Setting—the location where scene takes place

5. Other important details—actors’ ages, any special requirements for filming

In this section, we will be discussing the process of writing a treatment. In order to write a good treatment, you have to have a clear idea of your project's purpose. The goal of the treatment is to sell your project to your audience so it is important that you are able to convey your point in an interesting way.

First, figure out the form of the video you are making. Is it going to be short-form? Is it going to be long-form? Then, figure out who your target audience is and what they care about. Once you have determined that, start drafting some ideas for how you can present these ideas in a way that will resonate with them. Remember that there are no set rules on what type of layout or style you should use for this document -

A treatment is a document that outlines the main points of a project, including storyboards and other visual aids.

A treatment is a document that outlines the main points of a project, including storyboards and other visual aids. This is usually done as an overview of the video to give insight on the context and story direction.

Main functions of treatments are:

- To provide insight on how the video will look like from start to finish

- To inform viewers on what they should expect when they watch it

- To help with pre-production tasks such as design, casting, location scouting, etc.

Treatments are usually created in PDF or Word format, but can be created in any format for any media type (i.e., PDF for websites).
